Lord let me live to quilt another day
I've not the time to go outside and play. My stash has taken over my whole room, I've swept the UFOs aside with broom. I found a square today I did not know I must have made it very long ago. I'll place it in a basket over there until the rest of cutting board is clear. and then I'll settle down and cut awhile for something from my "must make" quilting file. I'll make one for my Hubby, he's so great for sometimes for his dinner he must wait until I finish quilting one last row and have the stitches running to and fro. but first, I'll settle down with all my stash and pick out pretty pieces that don't clash I know that it will surely take awhile to find the "just right" pieces in this pile and so I guess there's just one thing to say LORD LET ME LIVE TO QUILT ANOTHER DAY! Here's another quilt poem. The last two lines are great:
Dolly sits a-quilting by her mother, stitch by stitch, Gracious, how my pulses throb, how my fingers itch, While I note her dainty waist and her slender hand, As she matches this and that, she stitches strand by strand. And I long to tell her Life’s a quilt and I’m a patch; Love will do the stitching if she’ll only be my match. Paul Laurence Dunbar (1872-1906) |
What a great poem!!! And so true!!
