I see a lot of references to "charity quilts" - can someone explain?
|
Quilts that have been made to donate to various different charities.

no such thing as a silly question

There so many it would be hard to list all of them. But we are referring to quilts we make and give to a non-profet organization. Like The Linus Project, Quilts for Kids (they will even send you the kit to complete and send back)Quilts of Valor, Quite Comfort, (the last two go to vets), You can also contact a local Quilt Guild and they will provide you with charities in your area that need quilts. Like homeless shelters, battered women shelters, children's shelters, hospitals, etc. Like I said the list is endless!
God Bless you with whatever you choose to do! |
I make quilts for injured UK soldiers these are refered to asCharity Quilts. Others on this board make Quilts for Linus(a childrens charity) or different Cancer charities. Does this answer your query?
|
Charity quilts are quilts made to be donated to a charity or place of the quilter's choice. I make lap quilts and donate them to the VA. Others make Linus Quilts or Downey quilts for children. Some charities have specific sizes or colors that they prefer. There are many charities that will accept quilts. If you are interested in making them, check in your local area for a place that can use them.

Wow - Ok - I thought it was something like that but I didn't realize how big the need was - do they have to be perfect like ya'lls or do they take newbie quilts? I have some that I made to practice with that are nice but not great and perfect?
