Simple Applique project

Long story short: I am attending an applique class where you bring your own project to work on and the instructor will help you through it. I really don't do much applique and don't want yet another PIG (project in grocery bag). Does anyone know of a simple downloadable project I could take (preferably free)?TIA

Rhonda K Thank You for the link. I downloaded the pattern for the coffee mugs. It'll be a good small project for my kitchen. I have a stash of Kaffe Fassett material that is calling.

What kind of applique? Needle turn by hand, prepared turned edge by hand or machine, or raw edge fusible? If needle turn or prepared turned edge I would choose a pattern with simpler shapes.

If you are taking this class to learn applique so you can do more advanced techniques I would suggest a Rose of Sharon pattern. There are tons of them but it will expose you to making bias strip stems, curved edges and inside points (from the flower) and outside points (from the leaves). These are all valuable techniques to learn how to do for applique and will give you confidence and the skills for needle turn and prepared turned edge.

Here is one that I found that is free. I am sure if you search the net you can find others and if you have EQ there are several in that program.

Edited to add, here is another cute applique pattern with large simple shapes. I happen to be working on this quilt right now. This will also expose you to curves, tight inside and outside points and bias strips.
