I love this pattern and it would make a good leader/ender project. It could easily be tailored to whatever age group you want to target just by changing the color combos or prints you have available. It's also a good way to get rid of a layer cake that you don't really like as each piece makes the 4 strips. Now that I have started thinking about this further, I can see it made in Christmas prints with either a red or green zipper or downsize the squares and make colorful place mats. Thanks for a great pattern idea.

i follow Jo’s Country Junction. I’ve made her “Meet in the Middle” several times. The original pattern is 2.5” strips but we use 5.5” instead and make it at church for giving.

Yes, indeed, there looks like some quick and easy quilts ... that become pretty snazzy looking once finished!

Thanks everyone for the wonderful suggestions! I am going to print off many of them and put them in a binder for easy reference.

I love the Carpenter's star quilt in particular and there are some videos out there on making this quilt...I like the idea of splitting the star so you have half peeking into one side of the quilt and half the other.

After finding this one, I reread your post, sorry, no blocks, just strips, but there are other things on that blog, all quite modern.

The jelly roll race pattern goes pretty quick. I always liked the looks of the ones they make and then flip some of the strips to make it fancier. Done with kids' fabric maybe?

Or perhaps this setting You just put the darker corners using a 2 1/2" square you mark corner to corner and cut off to make triangle corners. The alternating blocks are just nine patches. Which you strip sew and piece together Just make sure to use a background color that coordinates with the background of the print you use in the print blocks. It all goes together looking pretty interesting.
