I like the pleated tree -- I think I will try that with a pineapple design. Thanks -- Mim

I seldom give handmade items to family anymore. The ones I like each have a quilt I made. LOL. Of course my kids and grands get first choice of the quilts and projects I finish during the year. I do give hand made items to my sewing group pals. This year I'm cutting hexies and hex papers to put in a kit for each one. One kit will be civil war era fabrics, one 30 area, one brights, one pastel, one batik and one Christmas. Each has a favorite fabric choice. I cut the hexies with my Go die and the papers with the Fiskar punch. It's fast to do and all I had to do was buy a jelly roll of each theme. I putting in lots of extra papers. And to jazz it up even more I bought very pretty lightweight patterned scrapbooking paper to match each fabric theme. I think they will be drooling! I put a lot of thought into the kits and I know they will love it.

If you have an embroidery machine Jolson's website has a Merry Christmas tree in their freebies, I got it and put it on a white dish towel I bought a walmart, it was a nice towel, a brand name but right now I can think of it, cost $2.97 I'm going to dress it up with jumbo red rick rack on the bottom.

I hope to not only start but hopefully finish a king size Dresden Plate quilt for my DS and DDIL, maybe by their anniversary Dec. 10, but if not, then by Christmas. Our daughter is getting married this month, so I was thinking I might make her and my new SIL a tree skirt with matching stockings. They're not sure where they will be in Dec. or where they will be living in the next year or so, so she didn't want anything specific as far as decorating goes. She's pretty specific about what she does and does not like, so I thought the tree skirt and stockings was a safe gift. I'm attending a craft fair in Nov., so I'll be making quilted bags and purses, like Bow Tucks bags, plus placemats, table runners, maybe some baby bibs and a couple simple tree skirts.

I have no idea what to make for Christmas gifts, this thread has helped me to start the thinking!

I try to get at least one quilt to family member each Christmas, the others get smaller item. This year it's a quilt, a table topper, several getting tree skirts, maybe some felted wool mittens and a couple of wallets.
