I recently purchased a Singer 328 that uses the 300 series cams. It does a beautiful straight stitch and zig-zag stitch, but I cannot get a good stitch using any of the other cams such as the arrow or domino patterns. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or have any advice????

What do you mean by good stitch? Are you using any stabilizer under your project? Any of the embroidery type stitches need stabilizer to lay flat and even.

You may have to put the levers on specific letters (if you have letters). On my 401A, I would have to use the special stitch letters to use a cam other than the ones in the machine. Does you machine top lift up so you can see the cams, there may be instructions on the inside of the lid for this.

I'm embarrassed to say, I didn't even think about using stabilizer! Will try that this evening.

I do not have letters, I can only insert the cam and control the stitch width, length and needle position. I have a manual, but it is not very clear. I guess I will have to continue to play with it.

I just purchased some cams that I thought would work with my 403 but they are much smaller and are flat. Do you know if these are the kind that are used in the singer 300 series instead?

Yes, the 319's take the flat type discs.
