I have a Singer model 301 made in simanco with 170127 after simanco. It is the only number i can find on the sewing machine other than the model number. I am curious to how old it is and what it is worth. It is part of a small sewing table where the machine folds under the table top to store away. Im sorry i do not know a lot about these machines and i could not find a serial number any where. Any help would be appreciated.

The serial number will probably start with an NA or an NB and it will be stamped into the underside of the frame in letters about 1/8" tall or less.

This machine was one of the first of the slant needle machines and it's good for straight-stitching and free-motion quilting.

What they're worth is hard to say - pretty much whatever someone is willing to pay you. :) It's going to depend upon what part of the country you're in, how many vintage machine fanatics there are around you and how many vintage machines are commonly available. :)

Thanks, i found the serial number. I had to take it out of the holder from the table. It is NA 046501

You have a 1951 model. Sinmanco is the SINger MAchine COmpany. I love my 301. She pieces and FMQs wonderfully.

I have to agree with above...I have a 1951 Black 301 and a 1954 tri toned tan/beige 301A and boy do I love sewing with both and I could never master FMQ with my modern machine but I find doing it on the 301's for whatever reason makes it so much easier for me though I'm still learning...I'm doing better on the older machines.
