Singer Red Eye Treadle Machine

I just purchased this treadle and wondered if anyone could help me out on where to find parts for it and how to clean up the machine. It's is great condition but dirty looking. What is safe to use on it so as not to ruin the decals and such. The belt has to be replaced and a few screws. Any help would be appreciated.

If you check the file Vintage Machine Enthusiasts, I believe there are links to videos that show how to clean vintage sewing machines.

Here's a website with cleaning info:

and another one:

I like using sewing machine oil to clean a machine, as it will not ruin the decals.

Here's a Youtube video:

If you Google "treadle sewing machine belt" you will find quite a few options, including eBay, Sears and Etsy. Here's a link to a sewing machine parts supply house:
http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/alp...adle-belt.aspx

There are also Youtube videos that show how to replace the belt.

I appreciate all the information. I will check them out. I learned on one of these and really want to give it a try. Maybe I can do some sewing in my dinningroom and not always in my sewing rooms leaving my husband alone.

Later posts said that others had problems with the posts on cleaning machines. I did use these directions and did not have any problems. I also bought some parts on sewingpartsonline.com and I have had great service for them. If for some reason your machine is a back clamp machine you will not find any feet for it. I went on the Yahoo singer site a couple members there gave and sold me what they didn't want or need.

We purchased one that had been converted to electric so we converted it back to treadle and love it. Congratulations on your red eye.
