I have a Singer Redeye and I found it was made in 1910.
|
January 9, 1923 according to the Singer website. Cool! I love the Redeye. I have two of them. Both of mine have the back clamp feet. Does yours? One is 1919 and the other is 1921.

not sure about the back clamp feet . got to learn how each thing fits. I actually bought it for parts. I need a part for my 127. The part that makes the needle bar go up and down is broken.

It is a 66...and you can get Class 66 bobbins for it at Joann's...I have one that's from 1910...Love sewing with it.

And if the attachments clamp onto the back of the presser bar instead of the side, it's a 66, because I think the 66-1 was the only Singer domestic machine made with back-clamping attachments. My 66-1 back-clamper has lotus decals in pretty poor condition, but it sews like a champ and all the attachments make it a lot more versatile than I used to think a straight-stitcher could be. :) I doubt that you would be able to use any parts from a 66 to repair a 127 - a few screws might fit from one to the other, but they're very different machines. I haven't ever tried to make this kind of substitution, though, so if someone with experience at this has told you that it will work, trust them over me. If you will pm me and send me a picture of the part you need for your 127, I might be able to pull it off of one of my 27's. I would LOVE to find a Redeye in pretty condition. :) The ones around me are usually in terrible condition. The few that I've seen that were pretty were priced way too high for my budget. |
Thanks for the info-. Don't know the name of the part for the 127 yet. Got to go back and pick it up from the
SD this weekend. He will show it to me and the name . I hope someone can help me find this part as it has been discontinued and no longer available to order. Will post this info soon as I can. I am trying to restore my mothers old treadle, the one I learned to sew on. Thanks again. |

If you think you have it could you pm me a picture so I can be sure we are talking about the same part? I have a parts # if you need it. If you have this part off your 127 please let me know and price. My SD said it might be a good to replace the needle bar too. Thanks , Nannie |
I am sure that that part is in there - just not sure how I would get it out. ;)
Someone gave me a parts head - it's missing the handwheel, plates, tensioner & bobbin winder - but all the internal parts are present. I would be happy to send it to you if you pay for the shipping. By FedEx ground, it would cost about $24. |

By FedEx ground, it would cost about $24. Take the plate off the left side that covers the inside of the head and you can see the inside where the needle bar goes up and down and the small heart shaped cam will be at the top. When you turn the handwheel the screw rotates around the cam. I have a picture on my camera. I will try to upload it to you. Not sure if I can, I've never down a upload. |
No, that's for the whole machine head.
But if I can get to the machine, I'll see if I can figure out how to remove the part you want - I'll be happy to give it to you if I can figure out how to get it off. If I can't, I'd rather just send the whole machine. :) |
I'm trying to up you apicture. Having trouble doing it. will keep trying. Nannie

That big screw at the top of the needle bar is where the NB cam is located. Let know if it is there and please a picture.
Has to be a 127. Thanks, Nannie |
I just found out that a machine that I've had stored is a Singer Redeye, serial #C8016815. Don't know for sure if it works, but is in excellent condition, bodywise. Can't wait to check it out!
