I went to one of those sales about a year ago. The cheap machine was there, but the one that sewed through leather and denim seams for hems was much more expensive. I just walked away.

If it's too good to be true it usually is.. Look it over carefully, use it yourself, make sure you are comfortable with it, and make sure with yourself that if it doesn't last as long as you think it should or you have trouble with it... that you won't be mad. Happy Quilting!!

Be careful - could be the old Bait and Switch.
Advertise less expensive machine then talk you into a more expensive model. |
I bought one a few years ago. NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!!!!!!

Sorry hit the enter button before I got done. I also bought the sidecutter that is suppose to cut off excess. The machine didn't last long enough to wear out a needle. If you want a machine that will work and last forever buy a 15-91 or a 66. I have a 15-91 that I just got out of the closet and I wonder why I ever put it there. It sews so much better than the other more expensive Singer that I used. I have the "Heavy duty machine" in a box since it no longer sews. Should just send it to the metal yard.

The serger attachment does a pretty good job also. It has come in handy several times.

I bought one for my dil a few years ago as she was a new sewer... worked great and she loved it. Doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles but proved to be a real workhorse.

I bought the Taylor as well. I got it to sew leather....I do find it hard to thread, other than that it has been great to sew heavy fabrics for DH and leather for son and his friends. Some things I refuse to sew on my good machines !! I think it was a good investment...

I have a Tailor, which is a Singer made in Poland for schools. I love it.

Avoid those machines like the plague!! They're very poor quality.
