Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show

I am flying my grandson back to Terrebonne Oregon in two weeks and will be there just in time to go to the great outdoor quilt show in Sisters. My husband flew our grandson home to Michigan for a 2 week visit and brought me a class schedule and the flyer for the show. I'm not planning to take any of the classes and other than wondering through town admiring the quilts I am wondering what else there is to the show. So, if you have been there please share your experience with me, are there vendors, anything super special I shouldn't miss?

I have been there several times. I use to live in Bend Ore. I still have a sister in Bakercity that I visit every July. The quilt show is fantastic, they are everywhere! I would get there early, because there are people everywhere too. They say on that one day there are well over 25,000 people that visit that town. We could not even get in the Stitching Post Quilt Shop, it was packed, and the lines at the cutting tables were slow and long. But... The Quilts are wonderful, don't forget your camera!!

I will be in an RV campground the whole week before the show. The actual show is on Sat.,with classes that week. Many of the stores in town have quilts hanging in them. There isa Quilt Expo that week in Redmond..a short distance away. They will have venders and classes...starts Wed nite I think. Bend has some wonderful quilt shops...some with classes and specials that week. In the meantime, this area is very scenic...with state parks, high mountain lakes. The 3 Sisters area is a gorgeous. BTW,quilts are being hung very early in the am. I always go to the show about 6 am,when it's less crowded, parking is easier and it's not too hot. I don't see all the quilts, but there are a lot to look at! Bring your camera.

Thanks for the information, my son-in-law warned me to go very early or I wouldn't be able to get near town. I guess I will plan to take an empty carry-on, I'm looking forward to picking up some fabrics I don't see around home. And I am so looking forward to seeing quilts in the great outdoors against the beautiful backdrop of the area. I've been to Oregon only once before when the kids lived in Redmond and remember the beauty of the mountains and the grand sky.

The show is fantabulous, not so the weather. We lived close enough that we could go one day early to visit all the shops. Loved the tee shirt and tourist shops the best. We got into the Stitchin Post one year and couldn't get out. Three things. Water, sunscreen and comfy shoes. Well one more, plenty of patience. There is only one vendor in Sisters but like someone else posted, there are others in nearby towns. We always went early Sat., got a pkg spot right in town and were close enough to have lunch on the grass in the shade. You will not regret the experience. Just have a fun. Retta
