Today was the Sisters, OR quilt show. They hang quilts outside on all the buildings in the town of Sisters. The quilt festival is actually all week long, with the quilt show on Saturday. The main highway goes right through the middle of town, but they close it and reroute traffic around the town. It was over 95 degrees today, but that did not dampen everyone's fun. There are some of the most beautiful quilts I have ever seen hanging from the buildings in Sisters.
I was really impressed with some quilts called Fractured Flowers. I have searched online for a book or pattern on this type of quilt but all I found was a class. I also saw a quilt called folded log cabin. Again I searched the internet and only found a book that was not yet released. If anyone has a link to a book or pattern on these two types of quilts please let me know.
I am telling you that the quilts at this show, showed me how much of an amatuer I am. Oh well, I enjoy it and I will get better.

Did you meet up with any of the other board members ?

I am sorry you got sick. It was a beautiful day. Hot but beautiful.
We got there at 7:30 in the morning and had breakfast. They were putting up the quilts as we were eating. The quilts were more spread out this year.
There was some beautiful "art" quilts. I call them art quilts because they look like something compaired to a pieced quilt. My husband was in awe of them and kept asking me "how did they do that?"
The theme for the judged quilts was "Stars over Sisters" The winning quilt was a beautiful art quilt of the Three Sisters at night with stars twinkling over head. It was definitely art museum quality.
I started to fade after about 4 hours in the sun. When we left around 11:30 it was 92 degrees.
We had gotten there early enough to find a good parking place, but when we left the town didn't have a parking place left. There must have been 10,000 people in the little town of Sisters. The traffic was backed up to the Cloverdale road turnoff, and that is about 4 miles. We live in Bend so it is easy to get there early and leave when it gets too hot. But in the backed up traffic I saw numerous buses loaded with ladies trying to get to the show.
The show has gotten too popular for the roads around Sisters. But that will not stop me from going next year.

No, I didn't meet the board members. I saw some of them, but there was so many people there that there was no getting near them.

Well shoot! If you live in Bend, we can still get together...you're only 10-15 miles away from me, and there are a few others here in Central Oregon as well! :) If you stopped at the "quilted car" you were only feet away from Dunster and Carol.... :)
