Sit down quilting machine

Hi everyone, I was a member here a few years ago, but couldn't remember my name, so I started a new account.

Anyway, I used to have a long arm, but got rid of it sometime ago due to a change in my personal life. Now there's a chance I could get another quilting machine, but I'd need something smaller, so I'm thinking of a sit down short arm.

Its been a while since I was active in the quilting world, so I was hoping you all might refresh my memory and make suggestions. Thanks in advance!

I know Handi-Quilter's Sweet Sixteen is a popular sitdown machine. I believe it is a midarm, not a short arm. The Juki 2010 is a popular short arm for sitdown quilting. If I had to choose between the two (and could afford it!), I'd go with the Sweet Sixteen.

I have a Pfaff Powerquilter 16 which is exactly the same as a Sweet 16 and I love it.... Now that is not to say I'm good at it..... I just love it - LOL.

Hugs

I am the odd duck that tried a long arm and found I really missed the tactile enjoyment of touching fabric! I have had a Sweet 16 for about 6 years, and I just love it. I just quilt for my own enjoyment, not for pay, and I don't mind if the process is a bit slower than a long arm. I admit I really don't like sandwiching my quilts that are bigger than a big lap quilt. I am going to have a long armer friend baste my bigger quilts with water so,uncle thread in the future.

Thanks for your input everyone. I will continue researching since I'm not in a hurry. Now that I think about it, I have an acquaintance that might have the sweet 16. I might reach out to her...

I have a gammill charm with a 22 inch throat. I love it. I chose it because it sits parallel with the table, just like a domestic machine. I would encourage you to go visit shops that have a sit down and plan to spend a lot of time playing on their machine. It's a big purchase, and you shouldn't feel rushed into purchasing.
