So then anyone going on retreat or wanting to really do this in the allotted time would be smart to prepare a kit for themselves. Wish I was organized enough to do this for myself.  |
I think its after you get all the batting and fabric cut.
then not get interupped, ha, lol. I've done several and it took more then six hours!! Enjoy it though, its a fun quilt, and can be made in many sizes. I had a friend that did a king size in it. keep it rock'in. simple quilter |
It's been a long, long time since I did mine, but I do remember it took a lot longer. Seems like it took me that long just to figure out the instructions. Actually, they weren't hard, but sometimes things just don't compute right in my head. But, it is a very cute quilt. I believe I used polyester batting; has anyone done one with w/n batting. I would love to see a picture.

I have a couple of patterns that I've developed on my own that take 6 hours or less - twin size only. That also includes the cutting. I tend to spend time planning the cutting/sewing, etc., beforehand though.

Okay, I have a great idea. Next time we are doing a quilt, lets keep track of our time, from the design concept to the finished quilt. This includes cutting it out, pressing, starching, etc. You will be shocked how much time you have into it. Remember all those famous quilters have "schleppers" that do their cutting, starching, etc. Even if they "claim" to do it all themselves, I bet they have someone cleaning up after them, putting their tools away in the proper spot, changing machine needles, lubricating, de-linting and all that fun stuff that we so enjoy doing.

I think Quilt in a day is a Biblical day. Maybe the 6 hour quilt is in dog years (hours) or something.

What is 6 hours of quilting, if I get an hour a night I'm lucky. So what is a 6 hour quilt??????????????
|
Oh - My dear SIL made one of these for me. It was her first quilt and she was so proud of it. I still have it on the bed in my guest room. It is queen size. I asked her if she made it in 6 hours, and she said No Way!
