size for a block

I am working on a quilt that I would like to use some solid blocks mixed in with the irish chain Picture is attached

The chain block over all is 11" - -- the center section was 8" before I put the last sashing on the side

my question is what size do I need to cut the solid blocks? I am thinking but I am not sure

What do you guys think?

They would need to be the same size as your Irish chain blocks

As all seams are not created equal the best to do is measure your chain blocks and cut your solid blocks the same size

As Rff1010 said, they would need to be the same size.

Don't forget to add the seam allowance for the solid blocks. 1/2 inch in width and in height.

You have a great idea for a quilt and I agree with the others that you just need to measure your pieced block and add 1/2" and that will be what size you cut the solid block.
