Which size rulers are a must?

Which size rulers should every quilter have? I am restocking my quilting room and only want one brand of ruler. I think I am going with creative grids. What size is a MUST HAVE for you and why?

The ruler I actually use the most, would be my June Tailor Shape Cut. I use it to cut strips and to trim blocks. With a regular ruler, my cuts often varied by several threads, depending upon which side of the mat line, I placed my ruler. With the shape cut, there's no guessing. As for regular rulers, I don't really have a favorite but do like the fact that my 36" reaches all the way across my cutting board.

I use my 6 x 24 and my 12.5 inch square the most. I also use my June Tailor Shape Cut a lot.

The ruler that stays on my machine table is my 3X18. I use it for most of my cutting. The next I use most are my 15x15 square for squaring up blocks/quilts and my 6X24 for cutting larger sections of fabric. I have lots of others but I use these most.

For decades the rulers I have used the most are:
6" x 24" for cutting long strips, mitering borders, and helping to square up the long sides of quilt tops
6" x 12" for cutting shorter strips, subcuts, and just about any other task
8" That Patchwork Place Bias Square ruler for HSTs, squaring bu block segments, cutting snowball squares, keeping each round of a log cabin block square, etc.
12.5" square ruler or larger for squaring larger blocks, squaring up finished tops, etc.

Depends on the types of quilts you make. For t short quilts, I use the 9 1/2 square and 12 1/2 square. Great for fussy cutting big blocks. For cutting almost everything else, I use my 6 1/2 x 18 inch ruler with shaded/colored 1/2 inch edge. It works well given the size of my cutting board. No need to run out and purchase a tone of rules.

I also use the 6.5 by 24.5 and the 12.5 square the most. The 8.5 by 24.5 could also be substituted for the 6.5. It is just as versatile and gives a few more options since its wider. We also like CG rulers.

6"x24" and 12 1/2" square

I sometimes use my 4"x18" for cutting smaller things

My favorite small ruler is the 4x8 inch. Omnigrid with the 1/8 inch markings. I use that one a lot when cut pieces from scraps

8.5x24 - two of them are better - and something smaller like 6x12. With those 3 I am quite happy. Oh, and the add-a-quarter for paper piecing. A 60 degree ruler (tips not cut off) is nice for OBW, but not totally necessary.
