Sizes
What are the average sizes for quilts? I tend to make mine "throw" size about 50" x 60". My husband thinks they are to small. Any ideas?:)

I make most of mine the size to fit the top of a twin bed. Never really measured.
Mine come out whatever size they come out. Part of the time I make them a specific size but most of the time the pattern dictates how big they turn out.
Unless its for a baby I make queen or oversized queen. They can be used on the bed or on the couch for a nap.
Depends on who they are for or what purpose. Personally, I like longer and wider 'throw' or 'nap' quilts ... unless it is for a bed.
I seem to go from one extreme to the other....they're either baby or queen/king...oh hum
I make throw size too but I make them 72 inches long by anywhere from 48 - 52 wide. I like to tuck my feet under when lying under a quilt.
The last two I've made are twin size but the ones before, were slightly smaller (for the sofa).
I'm with Scissor Queen...mine decide how big they want to be. I prefer lap quilts, but my DH also says they are too small.

We like throws to be at least 48 inches wide and 72 inches long. That way they go over the toes and clear to the nose to keep us snuggley warm.
Almost all of mine are Queen size, once in awhile full size.
I usually make full bed size quilts. Sometimes a Queen size, my kids all want then bigger. It's whatever is comfortable for me to make.
I like twin size and call them 'throws', at least 72" long.
I make a number of the couch quilts.. throw size. But even then it varies... 50 x 60 to 55 x 70. I think that size works unless you have long legs :D I have made baby and toddler quilts, and even those I vary sizes. I tend to agree with those who say the patter dictates. I have however let the backing decide the size... if I am making a couch throw size quilt and I am leaning toward 70" but my backing is 60" .. I stop at 60". I see no need to piece the backing for 10" I think its whatever works best for your situation

Baby quilts and throw quilts I make about 45 x 60". Most other quilts I make are queen to king size. Even the one I made for my parents 60th anniversary for their double bed is queen size. I figure most people have at least a queen size bed today. And I like the quilts to hang down the sides of the bed.

I have made many differnet sizes. I guess it all depends on what you are going to use it for.

I make mine70 inches or bigger. I am slightly weird. I strongly prefer square quilts so almost all of mine are 70 x 70 or bigger
