?sizzix die cutter owners

I just bought a big shot....equivelant to GO baby, I guess..price was better and I can use my smallerGO dies on it or buy the ones Sizzix that has that are different, and at better price/coupon friendly....anyway....those who have and use GO dies....need a shim? What can I use. Any ideas/hints/ suggestions

I just bought the Fiskars Fuse, which is also similar to Big Shot & Go. I have bought a variety of shims for it and I just sort of mix & match until something fits.

For shims you can use pretty much anything solid that won't compress under pressure. Most of the ones I've purchased have been plexiglass or dense plastic, but I've also added chipboard to bring things to full height and it works great. I've read of other people cutting the sides off of cereal boxes and using those as shims - one or many, to suit.

I use the cardboard envelopes from the post office. I use 2 layers of the envelope, cutting mat, die, cutting mat and cuts are perfect every time. Remember with the Accuquilt dies you can only cut thru 6 fabric layers.

You can use an old magazine. Just tear off enough pages until it's the right thickness.

I recently bought a used Big Shot but it didn't come with any dies. I am anxious to find/buy some and get busy using my new purchase.

Got lots of those!!!!!! Another dumb question....do you put this shim under the sandwich or between lower plexi and die?
I am pleased that hobby lobby sells the dies and accepts their coupon on purchase.....

Thanks for the ideas on shims.........

Sizzix used to have a multipurpose platform. You could use thinner dies, etc. They also have shims for embossing.

I still have mine, but I bought it when Ellison first brought it out about 10 years ago.

I think the baby go dies are too wide for the regular big shot. I have never checked (I'm not sure if any of my small go dies are the baby size) but I read it here.

The accuquilt 6" dies are too wide for the Big Shot because they are actually a bit wider than 6". The 5" wide go dies will work.
