I like to cut out a few small pieced quilt patterns because they are quickly cut out and then easy to put together, when you would like to.
The blocks are smaller, the quilts are smaller- yet the amount of pieces can be just as many or less of a much larger quilt. Anyway, I just like to do them...they seem to give me a feeling of accomplishment in a very short time (as opposed to a queen size quilt or larger) Now does anyone know of any freebie sites that have these patterns? I would appreciate any help in this. Kirsten |
Are you talking about miniature quilts or lap quilts?

Kirsten,
I have made 36 x 35 or 45 x 45 quilts by taking a regular quilt block and enlarging the pieces to the correct size and making a quilt out of one block - very quick work. I use them for baby quilts. Four of them together could obviously be used for lap quilts. It's easy and fun. Not too hard to change the size of the pieces - I use graph paper. |
The reverse is equally true. Take a full sized pattern with 12" blocks and make the same thing with 6" or 8" blocks. They generally have a much "finer" look.

I think this is what you are looking for. |
I recommend Quilt Design Wizard. It costs $29 and has lots of blocks to choose from and you download a new quilt pattern every month from thier website.
The best part is you can size your blocks and quilts to any size you want. It is on a disk that you download into your computer and it is easy to learn. It is made by the Electric Quilt Company. |
Thanks,
I will take a look at those mentioned. K |
