What purposes have some of your small 30ish squre (think Schnibbles patterns) quilts be assigned to?

I know the obvious, table toppers and wall hangings. But these don't seem big enough to be a throw or a couch cuddle blanket, what else does with them?

Thanks.

Do you mean 30-inch square quilts? I'm not familiar with Schnibbles.

I recently saw in a quilt magazine where someone stretched fabric over canvases from an art shop (these are ready-mades, where the canvas is already attached to the stretcher bars) and hung them on the wall. They recommended treating with a textile medium (I assume so that they can be dusted easily). This would work well also, I think, for quilt blocks and small sized quilts. It doesn't have to be just one canvas, either. The magazine showed about six of these in different fabrics hung on a wall to create what I would call an art statement.

Otherwise, I think a 30-inch square quilt could be used for a preemie blanket. Even for baby quilts, I think around 40 inches by 60 inches is the norm.

30 x 30 works perfectly for wheelchair quilts.

Just had to look this one up.. Schnibbles...

Schnibble: noun A scrap of fabric; a leftover bit of cloth; a small piece. The word has a German origin and is found primarily in German settlements in the Midwest.

Now we have a NEW name for our "scrap" quilts... SCHNIBBLE

Learn something new everyday!!

Here is the link to the schnibbles patterns. They are all smaller quilts made from charm packs.

I signed up to do a http://aquiltinglife.blogspot.com/ year of schnibbles quilts, and I am worried that I am going to have twelve small quilts and no idea what to do with them.

Slipstitch four of them together to make a 60x60 lap quilt. Use your color and fabric choices ro coordinate them. You'd have three by the end of the year, just in time for Christmas gifts. :D

I recently made the smalles quilts I have ever made. They are around 8 x 10 inches. I hung them on the wall in the dinning room in a random order and they look really cute. I have also framed quilts over stretcher bars and they look very elegant... and no need to bind!

This is a great size to lay a baby in the floor to play on!
This is also a good size to give to a small child that is in the hospital.
(many hospitals take donations of quilts, blankets, pillowcases things like this to give to children that are going to be spending a long while in the hospital so they have something more personal than a sterile bed and pillow!)
This size is good to throw over an infant car seat while going to and from the car on cold/windy days.
It is great for anyone that is in a wheelchair because its not long enough to get caught up in the wheels.
