smoothing out cotton batting

What's the best way to smooth out cotton batting? When I pull it out of the package, it's all wrinkled and full of fold lines, so it's not the best time to try to sandwich a quilt with it. So what to do?

I put it in with washed bed sheets or towels into the dryer. It is what I do when I buy Hobbs 80/20 batting. Takes all the wrinkles out of that type of batting.

I spritz it with water and toss in the dryer on low for 10 min or so.

I put it in the dryer with a small damp towel.

I just put it in the dryer 10 to 20 minutes

Thanks! It seemed like such a silly question, but I really didn't know what to do with it!

It is not a silly question - I had no idea until I saw it on "Simply Quilts" many years ago, up until then I would lay it out on our bed in the morning and hope it would relax during the day. The dryer works sooooo much better, not to mention faster.
