Snap Bags
 

Has anyone made the snap bags from the snap happy patterns? It calls for the light weight interfacing for the casing. I have the pellon firm #809 would that be too heavy for it when it calls for the light weight? What pellon # would be lighter?

Try it, use it and if you like it you will be so pleased with yourself that you used what was on hand. I don't know about snap bags but it prefer a sturdier bag for any project or to use as a purse myself. The directions aren't written in stone and you can use your common sense or creativity to enhance any pattern.

I used just a light weight fusible interfacing. You have to fold over that section and then put the short piece of tape measure through it so any thing too heavy would make it difficult to get the piece of tape measure through. Hope that makes sence. I love making those bags!

You might try 806.

I adapted the pattern completely to suit my tastes. I lined the bags with an embossed vinyl tablecloth piece I had on hand. If you put in makeup it is able to be wiped out. The tablecloth has a flannel backing so is sort of thick. I made a bag from the feature fabric and one from the tablecoth fabric and put one inside the other. Used a second print for the top bands and a third for the prairie point on each side to open with. Stitched the bands and priarie points on and then inserted the tapemeasure from one end and stitched closed. Turned it right side out and had a great lined bag! Don't think the pellon would be a problem in weight, might not hold up if it is not lined with another fabric tho. Linda
