kathdavis 10-02-2013 07:07 PM

Sounds like a lot of fun!

germanquilter 10-02-2013 07:32 PM

Hmmm...we are about 75 miles south of Tuscon. Might have to convince my hubby to go for a weekend trip :)

patski 10-02-2013 08:15 PM

Bring a jacket! It will be cool at night (50s), it is a wonderful time. I live in Tucson and may go up for that show! It would be great to meet other members!

ScrappyAZ 10-03-2013 05:57 AM

You will love the Phoenix area in February. Lots to see and do not only in Phoenix but in outlying areas such as Sedona and Prescott. When will you and hubby be here? The sewing and quilt show at the Phoenix Fairgrounds is at the end of January 30-Feb 1.

tessagin 10-03-2013 05:59 AM

Never been to Az. Have fun!

luvstoquilt301 10-03-2013 06:04 AM

I moved here in December and cannot believe how many shops there are, quilt events, etc. I am thrilled a big show is coming and the perfect time of the year for visitors.

Cam's gram 10-03-2013 06:05 AM

Lucky you! Sounds like fun.

Rose Marie 10-03-2013 06:29 AM

You should stop at a quilt shop at 35 ave and Northern. They took over a store that is huge. Used to be a Goodwill store. There is also a great shop on 59 ave and Northern, all fabric is 6.99 a yd. At least it was a year ago. I have moved up to the mountains so don't get to Phx. that often to shop.

We will be there Feb. 4-10. The show starts on the 5th. We have friends who winter in Mesa so we will be visiting with them and also friends from Oceanside, CA we hope to get to see. It's a six hour drive but if we both drive 3 hours and meet in the middle we can at least spend the day with them. DH also wants to go to the zoo. I'm sure we'll keep busy. Just leaving NY for warmer weather in Feb. will be nice. My birthday is Feb. 5 so it will be a great way to celebrate.

Great time of year to visit Phoenix!

You and I are going to exchange weather! I'll be spending Thanksgiving with my daughter in NYC. Weather in Phoenix will be nicer, but she's insisting we go to NYC.

btiny36 10-03-2013 01:05 PM

OOHHH maybe I can convince someone to go to show also...We will be in Lake Havasu and probably drive down it's only a 3hr and 10 minute drive.....will keep show in mind. Maybe we all should make plans to meet up....wouldn't that be cool. Still trying to figure out how to fit in a trip to Hawaii also...Really my heart is in Hawaii...Have some really great friends there and was really upset when we left in February....

MaddiesMom 10-03-2013 01:36 PM

I used to live in Phoenix. The winter months are fabulous! Be sure to visit 35th Ave Sew & Vac. It's not too far from the fairgrounds. My favorite place to buy fabric :)

Deb watkins 10-03-2013 05:24 PM

What a great trip you have planned! Take a few extra days and hit the Red Rim of the Grand Canyon in Sedona!

citruscountyquilter 10-04-2013 03:14 AM

Lots of cacti will be in bloom. I love the botanical garden in Phoenix. There you will see so many varieties of cactus. Frank Lloyd Wright's winter home is in nearby Scotsdale which is good to see too. You'll have a wonderful time I'm sure. Sedona area is beautiful and if you're up for a little further trip the Grand Canyon is a day trip away from Phoenix.

Amythyst02 10-04-2013 03:22 AM

Perfect weather, and lots of things to see and do. Would be a shame to come all this way and not see the Grand Canyon and Sedona. Hope you have a wonderful time here.

twinkie 10-04-2013 03:26 AM

You will have an awesome time, I am sure. Such talent and beauty.

[QUOTE= I have never been to AZ and have no idea what to expect. We are staying extra days for a vacation.[/QUOTE]

I been to Eloy for skydiving camps. Be sure to get up early and look at the sunrise over the desert. Beautiful!

quiltmom04 10-04-2013 06:16 AM

BE SURE TO VISIT THE GRAND CANYON !!!! It's absolutely indescribable! The difference between pictures you've seen and experiencing the massiveness and grandeur can not be overstated. We thought we knew what to expect, but we were absolutely blown away!

jhoward 10-04-2013 06:25 AM

Whatever the weather in Phx, you know it will be better than the north! We've visited spent time there the last couple yrs...last yr it snowed almost every day in while we were gone. Check out 3 Dudes Quilt Shop. Very helpful. They always have coffee and cookies, too. : )

rprue 10-04-2013 06:32 AM

We have been to several gem and mineral shows in Tucson during Feb. The shows are the biggest around and quite spectacular if you head south.

sewedie 10-04-2013 07:44 AM

This is a great show. Many venders. They have this show every year and is lots of fun. I do a bus trip for our sewing club and the members fill it quickly.

SooBDo 10-04-2013 09:31 AM

Gaga, which show are you talking about? I'm only finding information about the show from Jan 30 to Feb 1. Is there a link we can follow? There are a few of us in Alaska who might need to fly down for the show!

sewingsuz 10-04-2013 09:49 AM

I will be there. I live between Prescott and Sedona. Cottonwood!!!

Tiggersmom 10-04-2013 11:39 AM

You will love Arizona in February..........not so much in July and August.

We live in the norther AZ area and my son that lives in Phoenix knows not to expect to see me down there in the summer months!

Arizona does have some awesome quilt stores all over the state. I'm looking forward to the show down there also:thumbup:, as it should be comparable to Paduca, which I've never gotten to go to.

Enjoy your vacation and the quilt show!

Tiggersmom 10-04-2013 11:42 AM

February 2014, 1st weekend 5th thru the 8th is a Major Quilt show AQS being held at the AZ Convention Center!!!

This is not the state quilt show they have around that time of year.

mjhaess 10-04-2013 12:15 PM

You will love it. Be sure to go see the Grand Canyon.

debbiemarie 10-04-2013 12:19 PM

February is much nicer than summer time in AZ, I think you will like the dry air, it's a nice change of pace.

Amythyst02 10-05-2013 05:23 AM

Here is the link to the show she is referring to: http://aqsshows.com/phoenix/

wolph33 10-05-2013 06:25 AM

you will love it there-my daughter lives 2 hrs away-beautiful warm place.

bjsmith57 10-05-2013 06:28 AM

I live in Maricopa, AZ about 12 miles outside of Phoenix. I will also try and attend the show. Thanks for sharing the information.

My time 10-05-2013 07:35 PM

Yahoo!! I'm an Arizona snowbird so I'm penciling it in. It's a wonderful place to spend the winter. If you have not been to the Grand Canyon or Sedona they are both spectacular places. However there is plenty to see and do in Metro Phoenix. We love the zoo also!! Plenty of wonderful quilt shops in the area and everyone's so friendly.
