My DH must have gotten tired of me talking about a new sewing machine and debating over the cost. Yesterday he took the bull by the horns and bought me the Janome 6600p, I cannot wait for it to get here. I am very excited and a little nervous since this is much more machine then what I am used to. I will keep everyone updated once I get my new baby. :) :)

Congrats! What a nice husband you have.

How exciting! I hope it is everything you hope for in a sewing machine!

I have the 6600P and LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! Before this machine I had a Pfaff 2056. After getting the Janome, I couldn't sell the Pfaff fast enough!

Be sure to read the manual and take a couple of days to just play around with it.

Short of using postal twine, I've not found a thread yet that I cannot use.

I really like using serger thread for garment construction and quilt piecing and the machine runs it like a champ.

I have one and I love it, have fun with it. :-P

Congratulations! I, too, have the 6600 - for 4 years now. I love it so much that I even lug it to workshops, all 40 pounds of it & I had back surgery! I tried to use my MC3000, but the new features on the 6600 just forced me to lug! My fav feature is the auto thread cutter!

Now go shopping for cones of thread at Connecting Threads. $9.99 for 5000 yards in all the neutral shades. While you're there, wander over to Batik Paradise and pick up some for only $5.96 a yard. I got some (only 4 - 1/2 yd pieces at first) to see what the quality is like - can't wait to order more.

Gosh, I sound like a commercial! Happy stitching! I know you'll love it!

You will LOVE this machine. It is a real workhorse. I have had this since it first came out and want for nothing else!!

Give that husband a big kiss. My husband wouldn't do that.
He would tell me to buy what I want because he doesn't want to get the blame if something would go wrong with it.

Have you seen the Janome E350 or 350E or something like that? Last time I looked at it, it was $1500. It ONLY does embroidery, but it is compatible with every format of design on the market. There is a little box (you buy separately) that converts anything. I would love to have one, but I need to scrimp and not buy any fabric - going to be hard as DH just got a job after looking since February 2009! We will be moving to Waco, TX. DH has to be there soon & I get to stay and sell this house.

Congrats! That's the machine I have and I think you'll really love it!

I like my Janome 7700, but I love my Pfaff 2054/56 and won't sell it for anything.

Congratulations to the OP on your new machine. Your DH is definitely a keeper.
