I have added a strip of fabric in the center sewed on the diagonal rather than square. It gave a decorative creative touch to it.
When this happens....just stop and look at what you have and how u can use that and still work it out.

Thanks everyone, I am going to finish it the way I have too the strips were already cut. I was just upset that I got "short changed". I guess next time I will stand at the cutting table and watch, instead of off to the side looking at something else.

Bonnie, that is a good idea. I've heard of others being shorted and maybe I have been too. I tend to look off into space while they're cutting :)

Can you put cornerstones in the corners?

judylg 11-17-2010 04:26 PM

Do not feel badly, I am just ready to quilt a baby size quilt and I put the borders on wrong, but I barely notice it. So I am over it or sort of, it is pretty and I may show the mistake(s) as there are some of them too or I may not. You can not sweat the small stuff if at all possible. You got to keep on enjoy the quilting. Nothing is perfect.

No corner stones I havent got anything big enough left to do it with.

I have books saying to do the top & bottom borders first, then sides. Some say do the sides first then top & bottom. I've done it both ways.

I didn't know there was a right or wrong way. I always do the sides first.

I dont think it matters which you do first.
The situation I ended up with was the 1st boarder I did sides first.
The 2nd boarder I will need to do the top/bottom first in order to have enough fabric. Its just not going to be right at the corners.

I think after the quilting you wont notice, both are prints and not solid so I think it will hide well.

this is my fear... thats why I always buy at least a half yard more than I think I need..... and if DH is with me he makes me get a whole extra yard!.. I know.. it's a hardship.. smile.....
