I'm not sure where to put this, but...
One of my best friends is in college this year as a freshman (she's the same age as I am) but I'm staying at home and she lives 2 hours away in a dorm. For the past few nights in facebook she's been saying how she misses hugs from home. So I thought I'd make her a stuffed animal. She loves monkeys and the only pattern I can find is for a sock monkey. But I have some special fabric I've been wanting to use and no socks that are big enough to cut up. Does anyone know how to make a sock monkey without socks but just plain old material instead?? |

Try going to your local library and checking out their books. My daughter and I found some great books for Softies. =)

I'm from Rockford IL, official Home of the Sock Monkey. This summer, I took my kids on the "pilgimage" to the Sock Monkey exhibit at Midway Village. Bought pre-made sock monkeys and socks to make our own. We spent a day making the minis before they left for Africa for the summer. "Java Chip" and "Gingerbread" went along. We've made pjs and quilts from Moda's Funky Monkey line. The socks come with the pattern and are avail online. Very easy to do. The socks are no longer made in Rockford, but they're still made in the USA. Long live Sock Monkeys! :)
