I am looking to buy soft ware for my brother dream weaver xe to download embroidery designs from the internet . What should I be looking for & how much is a good one Thank You

I am sorry I am not familar with this machine. But, I am sure thier web site would have lots of information about it, if the machine booklet doesn't have it in there. Some of the download embroidery sites have information too. I am thinking something like utube has some info too that has the bonus of a video to watch.
Again I am sorry, but I hope this helps you some. I have 2 berninas and use either the software program on my computer that came with my 440QE, the built in program buttons on the sewing machine, a memory stick (or cd) in the laptop, or the machine embroidery cards you plug into the module for the older one.

I googled your machine and this site came up.

I don't think you need any software for this model. If there is a USB port, you should be able to download an embroidery file from the internet, copy it to a thumb drive, then plug that into your machine. Read your manual, it should tell you the type of file that your unit will take, many Brother's use PES format, but the manual will tell you exactly. Is there a brother dealer in your area? If so, I would see if they offer a class on your machine.

I was looking at embroidery machines the other day and another customer told me to go to Sew What Pro and lanni Panni to get free designs. She said she was using a brother pe770.

You don't need software, I have 500 dollar software collecting dust in the closet. have used it once in the past 6 months. Embird is the most reasonably priced software that you can do the most with without it costing you an arm and a leg. Like someone said you can just download designs put them on a zip drive and plug into your machine. emblibrary has nice ones and they usually give you 50% your first buy when you join their website. You do need to download a free software to view your designs on your computer or buy one to edit them(size, density, splitting), but I have yet to really do this and the editing on the dreamweaver has been so far sufficient for my purposes. If I were you I would invest in additional hoops and stabilizer first if you check your other thread I listed some websites for you check for cheap hoops and stabilizer.

Take a look on the Bernina website for their Artlink software. It is free, works with just about any machine and format, converts formats, and lets you combine designs.

I have all Vikings and they came with software to do this kind of thing; it'll even do some editing. I have the big software now but each machine I bought came with the basic one. I'm surprised that Brother wouldn't come with some type of organizer.

I have a baby lock Ellisomo which uses the same format as brothers. If you want more info PM me I thousands of designs. I put on a external hard drive and as I need them move them on to a flash drive, then take them to my Ellisimo and stitch them out. I would be glad to help you get started.

I would be glad to email you some pictures of things that I have embroidered.

If you have windows on your computer it will unzip your downloaded embroidery files and you can put them on your zip drive and plug that into the machine. I would go on www.sewforum.com. There are a lot of embroidery people on that forum with a section dedicated to just embroidery. I wouldn't put your email on forums like this because they are public and you can attract a lot of spam. It is always best to just pm someone with your questions. as for the open toe plate it is a new attachment for the muvit foot that allows more and it has 1/4 inch markings on it.its like having an open toes walking foot. I have already used it the part is sa195 you can get it from kenssewingcenter.com shipping is always free. There are some free programs to download to view your embroidery files. I have software so can't remember what they are, but almost all softwares have a free 30day trial so take advantage of that. embird is the cheapest with the most features. I have pe design plus, have only used it once, the only benefit I can see is it comes with the card reader so I can buy brother cards if and when I want. you can get pe basic for 100 off of many websites, which just allows you to view your designs and comes with a card reader. pe design plus has a few more features but you will not be able to digitize like embird and embird is a few hundred dollars cheaper

You don't need special software, the things I have found that I did need was a external hard drive to keep all my designs on. As far as downloading designs, you need to have unzip on your computer, I have a couple on small programs to be able to see what the design looks like, and there are a couple others out there that can resize or do others things to help you. One is called Embird, you can review that on line and also download a trail version before buying it. I have thousands of design on my external hard drive, there are a lot of free ones out there, also embroidery library is a great place to check out, they often have sales where you can get them for around a dollar or so.
If you have I any questions you can PM me.
