Solid jelly roll by moda identification problem.
I used 4 strips out of a jelly roll to start some sashing around my blocks. all 4 were the same color. I needed some more of this color and could not order online because I did not have the color of purple. I bought some Kona and it does not match so I have to start over. There is no way to ID the color out of strips from the jelly roll. I learned my lesson. I took a strip to Joann's yesterday and they don't carry it and either does hobby lobby.

I think you have a valid point and I have had this type of experience when using strips. I have pretty much decided against precuts-unless the entire group is a single , frequently used color. I always wind up with more scraps than I do from yardage. Therefore, precuts become more expensive than yardage.

I hate it when stuff like that happens. Do you remember the jelly roll collection? I did some searches on "moda solid jelly roll" and came up with a 30s package (and some others).
From the Bella Solids line there are 3 purples, Missouri Star has the sku and apparently more yardage of Sweet Pea, Lotus and Dahlia if any of those work for you. https://www.missouriquiltco.com/shop...ors-charm-pack |
If you ever have the opportunity, do invest in color charts from your most used manufacturers, I have them for Moda, Moda Grunge, Lava Batiks, and Kona solids. They have been a life saver when trying to match colors, I do wish the swatches were as big as the Grunge Line swatches though, those are the best size IMHO. I hope you’re able to find your matching fabric.

I never buy precuts of anything. That way I shop my stash and usually have more than enough fabric for whatever I need.

For me personally when I buy a jelly roll I generally buy my favorites from the line. For example if I really like some I'll get anywhere from a half yard to a yard. Used to be a lot easier to do when Hancock's of Paducah let you order a minimum of a half yard from there sale fabrics. I have 2 jelly rolls that are solids I can't remember the name right off the top of my head but I pretty much had yardage of what I wanted but have since used up almost all the yardage! Do you know what the name of the line is?
