I purchase a lot of fabric online from a variety of places - on sale. Hancock's of Paducah has great quality fabric, and it is not the same store as Hancock's - the quality of fabric is different. I buy from Connecting Threads as well. I just ordered quite a bit of fabric from The Cotton Patch - on sale. I especially watch for batiks to be on sale...

I hate using solids but need something with little texture. Have found Connecting Threads' "Mirage" to work well. Not quite a solid but more like how cement looks..........not a solid grey but different shades of grey. Just enough texture without taking away from the other fabrics. Went to a new fabric store yesterday and she showed me a collection called "Grunge" by Moda. Just a little bit of a texture without taking away from the other fabrics. May be my new "solid" when I can't find the perfect "mirage" solid. Oh yes, Connecting Threads "mirage" is just $5.96/yd so great price anytime.

Try Whittles Fabrics or Thousand and one bolts. They both have Moda Bell for $5.00 and $4.95 respectively

Hancocks solid are no different than Jo Ann. American Made is awful. I bought some for a quilt and ended up using it for linings for little purses. It was terrible to worl with. I stick to Konah or Moda and shop the sales.

I'd visit ConnectingThreads.com. Their prices are great, and they have a good selection of solids and "blenders".
