Keep an eye out in thrift stores! I sometimes find a button hoard. Hey Jan! I meant to say I'd pay postage for those unwanted buttons. :) Jan in VA |
Have you used vinegar in your wash water - it whitens, brightens and removes odors. Also, a dryer sheet helps and if fabric is stored in a tote you can put a couple of dryer sheets in the tote to keep it smelling fresh.

Okay, okay.....I'm not sure I was serious about actually going thru all these things and getting rid of them....hmmm. But it does need to be done, I know. Let's say I'll look at going through the box after the new year. It is up high where it's hard for me to get to right now. I'll try to remember this topic and response so that i can come back and find you to PM.

I'm trying to be better with getting rid of old worn out stuff and stuff I know I won't use. But I don't think I will get rid of my buttons. For some reason, I enjoy "playing" with them.
I'll toss an iron without a second thought; and the same goes for dull rotary blades. |

Mahalo my friend. There might be something from our beautiful Garden Island that you would like to have in exchange. We can PM back and forth in the new year. :)

Works for me. I have a second small hand surgery on the 14th of January and won't be able to lift much for a couple weeks; let's try to get to it before. Thinking about what we could trade!
Jan in VA I pre-wash and could cut you a stack of charms. I know a lot of people don't like charms because they can't be prewashed. To keep on topic: something that doesn't last forever ~ Kitchen sponges! I buy the yellow ones with the green scratchy side. Every time I throw out a grungy one, I wonder why I didn't do it earlier. :D |
If you microwave a sponge for 2 minutes, it disinfects it. I do this every day or so! Was so glad to see this hint somewhere!

Do you like batiks?

My foot with the recovering torn achilles tendon is recovered but swelling each day after a day going about my busyness, and I'm off it for the next few hours. Jan in VA |

I sew very little with batiks, not because I don't like them -- I DO! -- but they are more expensive than other fabrics often and I've just managed to rein in my desire for them. BUT, that said, a charm pack might be just the ticket to make something colorful for my wall! Mostly medium ranges, colors. I'll add lights.

Jan in VA I'll be making Christmas gifts between the 26th and Twelfth Night (6 January) when we'll exchange gifts and play Hand & Foot (card game) with two other couples. Meanwhile, in between everything else, I'm washing more batiks to start work on the 26th. Not saying what I'm making because one of those peeps is on this board! :D **** As for sponges, the reason I toss them is that the green scratchy side wears out. Then there's pens that don't write. How many times do we grab a pen only to make invisible lines on the paper? |
