My design board is a striped flannel backed picnic tablecloth, that is stapled on the wall... works great as I can see the stripes thru the backing and helps me keep things straight..

I bought a few yards of flannel backed tablecloth fabric - Is a black & white checkerboard pattern (very common "picnic" type pattern) You can easily see the pattern through the backing. Each square is an inch - Have it tacked up on an insulation board. Works just fine.

I may make myself one. Watson I also drew lines on my clean, just washed ironing board cover to keep from skewing what I was pressing, then ironed the lines to set the ink. Next was to test it with a white scrap to make sure ink didn't transfer to my fabric. My ironing board covers get washed several times a year, and the lines faded a small bit, but still bold enough to use. |
Mine was from Fons & Porter, but I don't remember which online store I purchased it from. I like it because it has grommets along the top, and I can use Command hooks to hang it, so it is totally portable.

I have the one that Nancy's Notions sells. Works great.

my LQS sells it by the yard off the bolt. I purchased two yards when I took Brandon Mabley's color class. Glad you posed the question for others to discover.

I have the one from Fons and Porter that I got at JoAnn's with a coupon and a gift certificate. The vinyl side has the lines but they show through to the flannel side. I use the design wall all the time but never the lines. I"ve never considered the lines accurate enough to know if something is straight and when I'm using my design wall I haven't sewn all the pieces together so how do you allow for seam allowances and still use the lines?
|
I, too, have the one (actually two) from Fons & Porter. Because the wall I use is wider than just one, I sewed two together. I don't use the lines very often, but once in a while they come in handy.

Fons & Porter has one. I have it.

Off topic! I think your avatar horse is gorgeous! He/she looks like a lovely painting! Who needs flannel when you have a beautiful animal such as that! |
