someone's retreat seat picture???

someone posted a picture last winter of a seat cover she made for her chair at a quilt retreat. It had pockets on the sides.

I am trying to design a chair cover that would allow you to put pillows under the cover without them sliding; a back that offers some back support especially on those darn folding chairs.

I've got some ideas floating around---this is for my guild's booth at an upcoming show. thanks!

Instead of a pillow, maybe use foam cut to the approximate size of a folding chair seat?

Make a pocket/case for the foam - and then add "saddle bags" to the sides of the center. Perhaps add some of that non-skid stuff used in cupboards/cabinets on the bottom so it stays put on the chair.

It would end up being a rectangle. You could add ties or straps for added "security"

I don't have any ideas for the backs.

I have no ideas for

Is this what you are looking for? It's not a cushion but it hangs over the seat & has pockets on each side. This is a really cool item and doesn't look to difficult to make.

I think this might be the one you are referring to.

Those are so cool! I might have to make a few. Thanks for the link to the pictures!

I was going to suggest something pretty much like bearisgray suggested for the padded seat. I usually have a thick chair cushion in the car for events where the seat/bench is hard and could see simply using it with the saddlebag suggestion over the top. If it has the cushion inserted, it wouldn't fold up as nicely as having the saddlebag separate. As to the back--I don't know if they are still available or if they would work on a folding chair but several years ago Dollar Tree had a mesh device that works quite nicely on my sewing chair at home. It pretty much is the contour of a person's back but gives enough support to keep from tiring so quickly.

as usual, you guys are the best! Yes--that was the picture I was thinking of. I think the idea of using the no-slip shelf liner on the bottom of the seat is awesome and I plan to make this so that someone can slip their own pillow into it, so either a tie or Velcro on the backside. I was definitely thinking the chair back cover needs to be separate so it can be adjusted for each person--I'm going to experiment with pool noodles (cut down) as support for the lower back, but will also look for those mesh devices--I use one of them on my spare sewing chair, but not sure they wouldn't fall on through on a folding chair so maybe I'll do some experimenting on that too. I'll post pictures once I get this figured out! Thanks again.
