I look on craigslist daily......never know what you might find! One of the things I search for is quilts. WHY do people list comforters as quilts? I look at the pics and it clearly is not a quilt. Its a comforter that you can buy in any store. To me a quilt is something that someone made, took time to put together, and has hours of time and love in it. You don't buy that at a dept store! OK rant over......I think.

Those that don't make, don't understand! I can't believe that they call the mass manufactured quilts Quilts!

Yes -

I agree - when I think of "quilt" I envision lots of handwork and decorative stitches. It would be great if everyone appreciated the fine differences between a hand made quilt and a mass produces comforter... and we do not wish our masterpieces be call "comforters". Mater of fact both probably could be called "blankets" if you stretched it a bit.

HOWEVER -

here are the actual definitions

quilt
1. A coverlet or blanket made of two layers of fabric with a layer of cotton, wool, feathers, or down in between, all stitched firmly together, usually in a decorative crisscross design.

com·fort·er
3. A quilted bedcover.

I usually just smile and say to my self.... "that is NOT a quilt"
Most people don't know the difference.......

People who do not quilt don't understand. Just shake your head and hope someday they will understand.

well, we could tar and feather them... OR,
make them a quilt...a REAL quilt. Think they would get it, then?
- probably not.
So good to know, there are some ppl with some sense of a good quilt, left in this world,

It is one thing to recognize and appreciate quality goods and workmanship, it is something else to be haughty about it. The definition of ‘quilt’ is growing and expanding at an alarming, and very exciting, rate. Why limit the way you look at things?
