Sometimes I think I'm a slow learner!

I like to put a crisp fold with my steam iron in bindings or thin edging, but I get really tired of burning my fingers. I tried using a stylus etc but these things don't come naturally to me. But today...Eureka! I turned my iron around and ran it BACKWARDS down the fold. I could get my fingers within half an inch of the sole plate and not get burned.
It worked for me.

Now that's thinking outside the box. Thanks for the tip!

I never would have thought of that. Gotta try it. I hate steam burns, but I'm addicted to steam.

What a great suggestion. Very creative and you have save many burned fingers. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I am about to iron 200+ inches and I know my fingers would have gotten burned. I will definitely work backwards.

We all seem to agree that you came up with a unique solution to an old problem. How many years have I been burning my fingers? Thank You!!
