NO ! You have just figured out what makes you happy and fulfilled.......what we all should strive for. We do not need to try and be someone we were not created to be!!!!

To your own self be true. I am 75 and have always lived by that rule. I quilt and do crafts to do what makes me happy and colors are my thing. I play with fabrics and love making quilts and clothing for children. I care not what others think of my quilts but they must like them as they have all gone home with friends and family and are well loved and used. So don't worry about what others think just do what makes you happy, you are not alone there are a lot of us out there.

I make quilts that please me and only me. I have made about 136 quilts and a bunch of comforters and not a perfect one in the bunch. I keep trying but not yet. I am pleased with what I make and try to do the best I can. That is what works for me. Different strokes for different folks.

Aw, well said. I too like them that way for my bed. Usually gravitating to simple patchwork. But, I love see the others also.:)

I too love to quilt but do not have the skills nor talent to make those awesome quilts I drool over. I like making the simple patterns that I know are in my skill set and while it takes me much long to make a quilt than it takes my friends, I eventually get it finished and I'm proud of what I've done. With each quilt I make, I see an improvement in my work and that gives me the courage I need to keep moving forward....making those simple little quilts that I love. I'm in my comfort zone and I'm staying there. LOL

I can relate to what your saying.
I don't get to sew/quilt as much as I'd like or as much as others around me. I recently gave up feeling guilty about it. Where is it written we have to feel guilt over our hobby? silly mousie. On the other hand, your a smart cookie, you can't be top notch at everything, now can you? :) |
Now that I am 65+, if it is not fun why do it? Do what gives you pleasure. I too like bright colors and simple quilts that is what you make. I can admire complicated intricate quilts but I am unlikely to make one.

By the way your quilts sound very lovable and cozy. Do you have any pictures posted online? I would love to see them. I think most of us are just having fun and that is just fine.

Makes you wonder who he really wrote these books for ;) |
I am 63 and I hope I never grow up. I love what I term happy quilts. Most you need sunshine to look at. I get funny looks at guild. But it is ok because they are all grinning at my happy quilts. The recipient of your quilt is never going to say " look, the points don't match". So be happy who you are!
