You are such a good son! I'm sure she will love whatever you buy.
|
Personally I like the 2nd one you posted the link to (buttler). You can see more of the quilts because the sides are open.
|
The BEST way to display a quilt is on a bed.....turn every few weeks. This keeps the fibers and filling even.
If you choose to hang them be sure to rotate the ends every 6 weeks or so to keep them from bundling the batting. Buy your mom the one you think she will like best....you know her better than we. I have an old wooden ladder I paid $5 for and I lean it up against the wall to display quilts. I turn them often to keep them from bundling the lining. Good Luck! delma |
I bought a metal 4 rung hanger that hangs from the wall and am not happy with it. I have no wall space for it. I agree with all the women who suggest a ladder. If my kids bought me one of those, I'd be in heaven!!! It would be my pride and joy!

Oh, boy, I love the glass chests and coffee tables. Now I want something I didn't know even existed.
|
|
What a great question! I learned so much. And what a wonderful thoughtful child. She will love you to pieces (sorry about the pun!) again.
|
Your mom is really fortunate to have a thoughtful son like you, I also cast "my vote" for the curios/glass chests for quilts, have seen them at shows and have been coveting one for awhile.
|
You are a good son. I hope my son gets on this board someday to ask for advice.

Modred189, I'll bet a lot of the members of this board are hoping you are their son. :)

I like the first one and the Amish one. I think she would like either one. You are a good Son.

Thanks, all, for all the recommendations so far. I think, after perusing some of these links, I am looking more for an at-home stand, and these two caught my eye:

UPDATE!!!
As promised, I wanted to post a review/pictures once it was delivered and set up. I ended up ordering this one: http://www.homefurnitureshowroom.com...ductItemsImage I also went to ThingsRemembered in the mall and had them create a little plaque that tacked into the wood. I opened the box when it got here, and it's a really nice product. It's freshly stained (ooh that wood-stain smell!), and made of real wood, not laminated particle board. They took it back and set it up, successfully, to rave reviews. And here are the pictures : With plaque visible. Complete with a recent (?) creation. She's a prolific creator so I'm not sure how old it is. Thanks everyone for your help! Too bad it doesn't match the Ferrari-themed humidor we got for my father! |

The stand is beautiful & looks great next to the chest. Your mom's quilt is gorgeous. You are such a thoughtful son.

I have an old wooden step ladder that works great. Then there's the other kind of ladder with rungs that you can lean against the wall.
|
http://www.needleandthreadnc.com/21512.html Here is a link to some that are being sold at my local quilt shop.
They are hand made by a local man and great quality. Good luck in whatever you choose. It will be from her son with love! SHE WILL LOVE IT! regardless! |
FYI, see the last page. Rack purchased and pictured.
|
Oh, it's beautiful and looks so nice with the chests she has. I love the idea of the plaque. Congratulations to your mom for a wonderful present and fabulous son.

This was a fun read!

If it is for displaying other than at home then look for photographers display equipment. They are called "backdrop stands". I have seen vendors at quilt shows that make and sell them. Most are for permanent installation in the home. You might also look in any large furniture store for the stand up racks. They are usually put at the end of the bed to hang the quilt over. Antique shops also have these.
If you want to put it permanently on the wall, then can go to the Home store and get wooden brackets and rods. I will try and search for the name of the company I have seen at the quilt shows. |
