Is there such a thing? I discovered the Heavenly Sewing Chair which seems fantastic but just to pricey at $500 for me. I have bad back and leg problems and I'm tall at 5'9". Any ideas?

I use a regular office chair, it is perfect! High back, wide seat, rolls, and is adjustable. Actually bought it at Costco for under $150.

You know, with all the "special" chairs out there, I found then so expensive, that I started auditioning chairs before I found the right one. We have an office furniture place here that sells used and older as well as new furniture and chairs. I went to them and asked to try out 6 chairs at home and for a small deposit they let me and I picked one...

I found the adjustable office chairs were still too low.

Then found an drafting chair ... same idea, though it's lowest setting is the highest of the office chair.

Low is perfect for working at the sewing machine and the higher heights let me sit comfortably to work at higher places ... cutting table, ironing board etc.

I chose one with arms, as I knew I'd want to use it at times, while doing hand sewing, or as I sat back and reverse stitched, etc. Best to get adjustable arms, height and tilt, as sure enough they'll collide with the table as you sit up to it.

I use an office chair too. It has multiple adjustments, height, angles, etc... Trying them out to make sure it is comfortable is a great idea :D:D:D

I had been using an awfully uncomfortable rolling stool and hated it. I was on my way to Penney's to see what they had in bar stools and stopped at Goodwill and found a perfect bar stool for $15.00! I didn't want an office type chair with arms since I'm up & down so much while sewing.

So, be sure to check out thrift shops, you never know where you may find the perfect stool/chair for yourself!

I use an upholstered office chair on wheels with no arms but the height is adjustable and so is the back. I am a little under 5'2" and it works very well for me. I've had it for years and think I bought it at Staples for less than $50 on sale (I did say years ago). I do agree with Baysidegal with auditioning chairs to get the right fit.

I use a office chair too. Got mine from Costco on sale for just under 100.00. Works great for sewing and quilting and is very comfortable.
