I was wondering if anyone has made a spicy spiral table runner without using any batting. I know there are no quilt police, but I was just wondering if there was any feedback on this! Thanks!!

I am going to make one in the new year- it's on my list ;) I'll watch for ideas here. Thanks!

I've never made a table runner without batting but a friend did and i noticed it looked lifeless. I save all the wide strips of batting just for things like table runners.

I always use a low loft cotton batting in my spicy spiral runners. I'm working on my 6th one.

I have made 5 Strata Star table toppers without batting. They lay so much nicer due to all of the seams in them. Also, they are much easier to launder and iron. My DIL says she doesn't have to worry about her candles on it because it lies flat.

I agree with you. Lifeless is the perfect word. It has no...presence. And since I like really dense quilting, the piece is sturdy enough that nothing would topple over when placed on it.

if you want it thinner, you can always use a layer of flannel instead of batting too :D:D:D
