About the Bias Ruler,

You can buy it here at the Missouri Star Quilt Company.

There's also a video on how to use it on this page. I love this ruler. I always hated to make bias, but now I put it on almost all my quilts because it's so easy to make now.

I have 3 that get very regular use: a 3.5 inch by 24 inch oldie that I bought in 1986. I love it because it's long enough to cut across a folded length of yardage. The 3.5 inch width is enough to give me a lot of options for most of the strip widths I'd want to cut. I love it so much the numbers are getting a little faint in places, which makes me sad, since I don't see these rulers around anymore.

What really amazes me about this question if the fact that you remember purchasing a ruler in 1986. For me, if it wasn't yesterday, forget it. I just have it. LOL

Like thepollyparot,I have many still in the plastic; wasted my money - should have bought fabric :)

This is my list also. I have a 15.5 inch square ruler that would be #4 on the list. I like it for squaring corners of quilts.

8.5 x 24, 12.5 x 12.5, 6.5 x 6.5, 4.5 x4.5. I like OmniGrip cause they don't slide around, markings are easy for me to use.

I'm so glad you mentioned your 9 deg ruler since I bought it specifically for the "Spicy Spiral" (not done yet) but what else is it used for? Those are huge wedges.

Someone else mentioned this in another thread - you would think an inch is an inch- I know mine are not by the same manufacturer - will probably be replacing some in the future

6 x 24 for cutting folded WOF
6½ x 6½

...and now that I'm into QAYG I'm LOVING my 20½ x 20½ square up!

I had just a 6x24 & 6x6 for AGES. Then I got a 15x15-ESSENTIAL for squaring up blocks. Then 6x12, handy and easier to handle. I got a 4x14 in a kit I won from Babylock, also extremely handy. I bought a set of 4 square rulers: 4.5, 6.5, 9.6, & 12.5 for $18 when 1/2 off at JoAnns. I also have a tiny one or two somewhere that came in kits. But I'd really like a 8x24 for easier cutting of 6.5" strips. I guess if I could have just two, I guess it would be the 15x15 and the 8x24. But I'm sure glad I don't have to restrict myself.

My very favorite ruler is 2 1/2 by 9 inches. I've used it so much that I've worn the corners off. I'd like to replace it with one the same length or longer but have not found any in our local stores. I found a specialty ruler for log cabin blocks that was 2 1/2 in. wide, but it didn't have all the right markings on it. Thus, it doesn't work for everything. My next used rulers are: 1 1/2" x 18", 4 1/2" square, 6 1/2" square and 8 1/2" square. I have several other rulers that I use occasionally.

6"x24" My favorite, by far
6"x6" 3rd choice
4"x14" 2nd choice
12"x12" for squaring up, which I do infrequently:>)
All are Omnigrid, because the yellow lines are easiest on these old tired eyes.
Now, having said that - I have a drawer full of rulers I just "had to have" but never (or maybe once or twice) used LOL
