Kitsie- Which ones are you going to order? I'm confused by your post.

The Spiral-eye, Susie. Sorry for the confusion, the "self-threading" are not on there, but I have some John James ones and to me, they are for a different purpose.

I've had a pack of these for a few years, and understood they were created for people whose eyesight makes it difficult to thread a needle, but never heard of the 'spiral' term before.

I have the top threading needles and use them for burying threads, but once or twice, it broke the thread as I was trying to thread it. Next time that happens I'll maybe ditch that one and try another.

MavisKW ... I have had the thread break too while threading, or as I say, "snapping" the thread through the open section. However, it's not the needle, it's the operator!!! .....I finally figured it out, that it is the difference as to how I do it. How I hold the needle, and how I hold the thread as I "snap" it through. One way, and sure enough it breaks. The other ... goes right into place.

Mine doesn't break while threading- but it shreds.

SusieQOH ... see my comments one before yours.
I have used both cotton and polyester threads, with no problem ... IF I do it "right".
Like I said ... I discovered it was an operator error!!!!!!!! :)

Now I guess I'll have to figure that out, too.

If I figure out what I'm doing wrong I'll let you all know. The owner suggested these needles are for sewing, not just burying threads etc.
So I'll try to solve this!
