Spiral Table Runner help please
Good Day Everyone, I have a pattern for a spiral runner and it calls for a 9 degree ruler I have a 10 degree if I use the 10 does it make that much of a difference? I have looked to get one but they are all short ones or they won't show up here til May and I need to make this one now.
Any ideas? Thank you for your help Kim |
I think it would make a difference. There are 360 degrees in a circle so if you are making any circle or half circle or any part of a circle shapes, your 10 degree one would make it a different size. You could maybe try and "fudge" by using a larger seam, but by how much is beyond me. You could try using the one of the shorter 9-degree ones and maybe extending the length with a straight edge and make a cardboard or plastic template to use instead

You could find the 9* angle on your 10* ruler and run a thin piece of tape the length of the ruler so you can line up along the tape to have your 9*.

My ruler is 10* and there is an asterisk on my pattern.
*10 degree ruler may be substituted - the finished runner will be slightly longer and wider. |
Using a 9* ruler you will need 40 wedges. With a 10* ruler you only need 36 wedges. If this works with your design, go for it

I took a class to make that table runner. I used shades of brown and it looked like a big snail. LOL Use bright colors.

I made mine with the 10* ruler and if you search my name with spicy spiral as the subject , you can see pictures and read through the posts from 2013. They are the perfect size.
