Spoon hand quilting
I purchased the spoon for hand quilting but did not want to purchase the video since it is $20. I watched a short YouTube video. Want to try it on a quilt I just basted. Any tips or suggestions? For those who have it, is the video worth it? Thanks for your help.

I'm not a hand quilter so I've never heard of this before but did look it up. Here's a couple of short videos I found that might help you.

Jinny Beyer shows how to do this; is a great teacher. Visit her site for tutorials, tips, hints and help.

I have a thing that is straight but could be called a spoon. Quilting is way faster with it. Just make your quilt loosely in the hoop.

I use a tablespoon measuring thingy....the handle snuggles in my palm. It's a great help to make small, even stitches. Go for it!

Ditto because I have a lot of measuring spoons and thinking my thin metal tablespoon may work if I bend it just right.

I've become very fond of Aunt Becky's. I don't have the link, but there is a good video on YouTube entitled Metal to Metal quilting, or something like that. One can quilt like a lightening bolt with fine, small, and even stitches. It would be similar to spoon quilting, I would think.

I, too, use Aunt Becky's finger protector; I've had it for years. It takes a while to get used to it, but it works. I also use a made-to-measure thimble with an opening for a fingernail. I always use the thimble when doing any hand sewing.
