A while back I had started a thread called I decided to try spray basting. Anyway there were a couple of quilters that asked how to baste on a wall so I took a couple of pictures of my quilts on the wall after I had basted them.

I found June Taylor spray baste at Walmart for $7.97 a can and it works wonderfully. The only thing I can't figure out is how to keep from sticking my feet to the floor. I tried wearing socks then my house shoes but it was a sticky mess.
The fabric on the wall is duck cloth. I didn't want the wall all sticky.
This process sure saved my legs and back.

About the floor ... Might be best to have some old sheets as drop cloths to protect the floor. And when you step off them take off your shoes or socks. Socks might be better, as then you can easily toss them and the the sheets in the washer.

I had the duck cloth drapped across the floor but it didn't stay there because it stuck to the bottom of whatever I had on my feet.

I love the June Tailor from Wal-mart, too! I drape my quilts on my dining room table. With the leaves in it's 4 x 8 so it works great. As for the sticky mess, I move all the chairs out of the way and "try" to keep it off the floor. I've found it mops up well with my steam mop. Since I hate to clean, basting quilts forces me to mop once in awhile!!!

My big problem last time was that I sprayed my arm. I had batting fuzz on my arm like you wouldn't believe!!

I had a problem with the fuzzy arms too. LOL!

I forgot to say that I was able to baste 8 quilts in less than 3 hours.

........ and no achy-breaky back! :)

If you did that much in that short of time ... you mustn't have had too many problems!

I didn't have any problems. I just kept moving right along until the kids demanded dinner. LOL!!

For the sticky feet problem, I would take a large sheet and secure it to the wall underneath your quilt. Instead of draping it across the floor, pick up the other end and hold it in front of your body while you spray. I think you could even bunch up that end of the sheet so you could hold it in one hand while spraying with the other. By holding the sheet up and in front of your body, the excess spray should be hitting the sheet on the side facing the quilt and you will never be stepping on it.

A variation would be to position several chairs in front of the quilt and drape the sheet (that is tacked to the wall) first on the floor and then up and over the chairs. You would spray from behind the chairs.

You would have to fold the sheet back on itself to get access to the wall, and then have to peel it apart again, but I think that would be preferable to sticky feet!
