Do you spray and then pin? Do you do it differently for a larger quilt?
One last question. Does the spray baste wash out?

Thanks and regards!

I use 505 spray, I don't pin at all and yes it washes out. :) I use it on small projects and big quilts. I love that stuff. :)

So far I have only used June Taylor spray basting. Works great. Big and small projects. No pinning. I'm going to try 505 next. I heard it has less smell to it. Be sure to follow the directions on the can.

505 Spray is the best stuff ever made when it comes to hand or machine quilting :-) :-) -- No pins, no basting

I use the 505 as well and it washes out. But, I also pin heavily.

505 spray is on sale for $12.58 a can here:

I use the June Tailor spray and I hate it. It works really well but the smell and taste of it seems get in my mouth, I wish it were less evasive.

I use the 505 spray. Have tried several others but like this one best. Less smell and easier clean-up, though more expensive. I do not pin it after spraying.

I spray and pin- don't know why- just afraid the spray might not hold. Oh well, I guess I just need to know things won't move.

I agree about the spray, have to watch the asthmatics in the house.

I spray baste everything. Just like SD said the spray washes out, just be sure to buy the kind that says fabric safe. Oh and a word to the wise: Spray baste comes out like hair spray, and makes everything sticky. Snot like spray baste has something wrong with it, take it back. Also it should spray out clear, not gray/black. If it does either of those things take it back - it's defective.

I love the basting spray. Used it for the first time for my Christmas projects. It held just fine with no pinning on the king size quilt I made and the wall hanging. Washed out great. I'll never go back to pinning.

Ok, I've not had a bunch of experience with basting spray. I've only used it on 2 quilts so far and the first one, I basted, plus pinned. The second one (my current project), I sprayed very lightly and did not pin at all. I've twisted and turned it every which way in the machine and it's still holding strong. I have the June Taylor and it does require ventilation. I am actually surprised though at how well it's held with very VERY little spray!

Does it really wash out? someone here got some on her table and had to take some heroic measures to get it off. I wonder how easily it washes out in just plain soap and water if that wouldn't take it off her table...
