I read somewhere on the site recently where the ladies were talking about using a spray glue instead of pinning when sandwiching the front, batting and back before quilting. I am not finding that thread of discussion now.
I have just finished the top of a wall hanging "Mexican Star". I have never quilted anything myself, but sent it out and paid to have it done. I now want to try to do it myself.
Is it good to use the spray glue to keep the batting and the front and back together?
I hope this picture gets posted. Also, what would you suggest for a simple quilting of this.

It won't show up as "new" to you, since you initiated the topic!

It's not called spray glue. If you do a search on spray basting, you will find many discussions of this topic. Many of us spray baste now because it is so much faster and easier than other methods. I recommend using 505 brand for spray basting, as it seems to work the best and does not have a strong odor. (You still need to work in a well-ventilated area so you do not breathe it in too much!) I have used other brands also, but 505 is definitely my favorite.

p.s. Your Mexican Star is breathtaking!

Beautiful quilt top! Yes, it's spray basting, make sure you spray in a well ventilated area, make sure you DON'T purchase the heat to activate spray. And if you get a wrinkle don't stress just peal back fabric and reposition, will still hold. Good luck!

Beautiful quilt!

Make sure you get quilt basting spray and not spray glue! There's a big difference!

I wonder if it's basting spray you mean? I am allergic to it but I heard it works well.

Love your Mexican Star! Have the pattern and hope I can do as well!

Use 505 all the time, you still have to do some pinning, but. Not nearly as much.

Patsy Thompson did a video and I saw it on the Quilt Show where she demonstrated the technique..she put hers on the wall...seemed to work well...I do it on the table...
