I need some help with squaring up blocks. Mine never seem to come out the same size. What do you guys use to square them up so they are all the same size?

i make them bigger when i can and cut them back-----i have a square with which i am able to mark the 4 corners in incriments ---most valuble

There are square up rulers available in sizes 2" up to 12 1/2" and larger.
Some blocks square up easily, others you may find will end up looking distorted or you lose your points. It may be preferable to redo your seams in some cases :D:D:D |
I have a ruler for each square I plan to use and try my best to make sure the seam is 1/4. Off some but not a lot.

Hope this helps.

I think getting the seams right is the key to getting square blocks. (and one of the harder parts). It's harder, but makes them look nicer in the end. (I have trouble with this part!)

your not alone.
I was going to do the Halloween swap and I made my blocks and kept cutting away to square them till their was nothing left. |
after making your blocks- measure them all- find the smallest measurement- trim all the blocks to that size.
line up you ruler on the block getting lines straight with a little to trim on the right & top- then turn the block-line up ruler again with lines of the block so everything is nice and straight/even- trim the other 2 sides. if there are diagonal lines in your block line up the diagonal on your ruler- hope that helps a little |

Ok thank you all very much for the help. I need to buy a square ruler. That seems like a real helpful tool. I've gotten way better at my 1/4" seams. It is amazing though how much difference it makes if your blocks are a tiny bit off in size.
