Squaring Up Log Cabin Block
 

I thought I sent this post two days ago but I can't find it anywhere so here goes again.

Do you use the same technique for squaring up a log cabin quilt as you would for any other block? I didn't know if you had to worry about the lines in it or if you could just trim the edges like in the others. I was a bit off on blocks so I made the last four sides a bit wider so I could trim them all the same.

It's a little more work, but when I make a log cabin I tend to make the strips a little wider and then trim after each seam. That works for me.

This is the method that works for me too. I cut the strips about 1/4 inch wider than I really need. Once I complete sewing on 4 sides I square up to the size that the piece should measure at that point in construction.
