Squaring up a quilt top

Ok, here's the stupid question of the day...

I have finished a quilt top that will have no borders. Do I square up the top before having it quilted or after. Everything I have seen on youtube is a description of squaring up once the quilt is quilted and then according to borders. The quilt is similar to a quilt race quilt, horizontal lines but with a few blocks inside the quilt body.

While it may be different for everyone, what is your "correct" way of squaring...before or after it's quilted.

Thanks!

Usually I make sure my blocks are square before sewing them together so that my quilt is square but I trim the quilt after it is quilted to prep it for the binding to be attached. Yes, you may end up getting a variety of answers. It really comes down to what works best for you.

I always square up the top after quilting it.

The quilting process will distort the top somewhat. Try to always start with as square a top as possible. That way, after quilting all that should be necessary to resquare it up is blocking.

I'm also in the camp of squaring my blocks as I go. Rarely do I have to square up a quilt prior to quilting for quilts either with or without borders. I generally don't need to do so after quilting either but I'm hand quilting so I think there is less distortion. Not sure with regards to domestic machine or long arm quilting.

if it came out pretty square, i wouldn't fuss too much before quilting... the quilting will pull up the quilt unevenly sometimes, so i vote for a good squaring up after the quilting.
