Squaring up with shape cutter
This is probably one of those things that many quilters know but jut now I had an "ah" moment.
I had been cutting strips with the June Tailor Shape Cut and had laid that aside to go back to working on a star quilt. Just had started to square up the first block when I saw the Shape Cut sitting right there. aligned the 45 deg. Line with the seam down the middle of my block. Easiest squaring up I've done in a long time. My eyes & hands just don't work like they did 30 years ago :D hope this idea can help some other "granny" |
I'm gonna have to pull mine out to see what you're talking about! exciting!

Good idea. I have those "granny" eyes too.

I am going to try that too!

So cool, thanks!!!!!!!

I use my Shape Cut for squaring up more then for cutting strips. It works great.
|
Great idea -- haven't used those lines but I love my shape cut.

Thanks for the tip. I love my June Taylor Shape Cutter! Last week I discovered I had a June Taylor cutter for cutting 8s. I always hated to cut blocks with 7/8". With that cutter 8s are a breeze.

I use my shape cut plus for everything including squaring up. It's nice because the block is covered by the ruler slots so it doesn't shift. I also use the HST ruler for squaring up smaller blocks. I wish she would make a large HST ruler specifically for squaring up blocks. Her rulers are the bomb! Make cutting so much easier.
