Squeeze the day!
Has anyone made this quilt. It's called Squeeze the day by Cynthia Coulter. I am finding the directions difficult to understand. Ugh

Is this the one you are inquiring about?

First time I've seen that quilt, but I bet we can help you out. Without posting pictures of the pattern instructions, can you tell us what, specifically, you're struggling with? Cutting or sewing? If sewing, which section or pieces?

Are you having trouble with the fussy cutting?
|
Ok so do I cut the panels along their borders correct.thats what fussy cutting means?
|
Fussy cutting is where you get "fussy" in how you cut the fabric, usually to use or highlight a specific feature of the fabric. Flowers are pretty common. I can see your borders possibly needing to be fussy cut also.
What, exactly, do the cutting instructions say? We still don't know how to help you, we need more information. |
So it says to cut the panel 1/4" away from the edge, so it has a seam allowance added. This is fussy cutting the panels. Then you will cut the "coping borders" and sew those on each panel. Then you will cut all 4 panel units the correct size.
It's really a great way to use place mat panels, and a very pretty quilt! |
I would make all the pieced blocks first then put the borders (sashiing) on the panel prints to make them the same size as the pieced blocks. Easy to add or take away from borders to make the size needed.
